It is epiphany weekend and here in France we have  “les galettes des rois” tempting us around every corner! I almost gave in, but I held my ground firmly and walked past.

Safely here at home, I can now proudly boast about my steadfast self discipline! After a season of nibbling on all the festive foods, I want to get back on track with healthy eating. Doesn’t that sound quite boring? NOTE TO SELF: Keep the healthy eating exciting! Tall order, since I have become a bit lazy in the cooking department. Proof…I haven’t even baked a galette this this year! But that is no problem. I have links up this lazy sleeve!

So this is what dictionary.com has to say about epiphany:

“epiphany

   [ih-pif-uh-nee]

noun, plural -nies.

  • 2. an appearance or manifestation, especially of a deity.

I hope your weekend will be filled with all the meanings of the word epiphany; eat a galette on 6 January, experience a pleasant appearance, receive that sudden insight we all need so desperately, and present your epiphany by means of a piece of work…maybe by baking a galette, even if only this once in your life?

Enjoy the weekend, stay warm in the north, stay out of the sun in the south,  eat “healthy”, and enjoy your epiphany.

  2. Epiphany is a beautiful word isn’t it? The galette is tempting but I am keeping these delectables on hold for January. I indeed made merry and did not sacrifice any tasting. I need to fit back into winter clothes! May 2012 bring wonder.

    I have been in a small organizational stage ..much to my husbands’ consternation.(Only because he gets stuck getting involved:) not because he doesn’t want to donate~He is busy making his wine and soon his prosciutto etc.. ).I want to simplify and donate.. give.. discard.. we’ve each made bags of clothes for those who may like them..We are fortunate to have drop off areas for such things then the really kind people sort and give..
    I Cinderellaed our bathroom floor.. the duvet covers..sheets..etc..

    I am ready for my pumpkin to turn into a carriage this year~

  7. Beautiful! This year I made Eccles Cakes. As I didn’t eat with excess during the holidays, I don’t need to diet. As a rule, I try to eat healthily on a daily basis…

  10. IIt looked so good that I had to copy it. My husband is the baker around here so he will have to give it a try. Love your blog and it helps me remember all our wonderful trips to France, its good food, markets, people and fun we had this past Fall. Keep up the great work.

  14. Glad I’m not the only one wondering where in hell 2011 disappeared to?! The galette looks wonderful – I was skiing over Christmas so feel I have had a fair chunk of exercise and deserve some cake 😉 All the best to you & H for 2012!
