Yellow rose in pen and watercolour.
We all have view on our garden, or around the house, that we love. This is of my favourite views. Up back towards the house. It is far from perfect, but .I love seeing the iceberg roses, the large flowerbed with bench, the terracotta pots and the terrace wall that my husband built in the hot sun! It is still nice and green from all the recent rains. I love it.
Kniphofia in water colour. Some of you might know it as red hot poker or torch lily. I grew up knowing it as'vuurpyle' in South Africa. I love havong them in my garden as they are native to South Africa. Having some of my roots in my garden.
On a beautiful hot sunny day, lunch is taken under the tilleul tree. Simple and cool. Flaked salmon with spring onions and fennel and chives, drizzled with freshly squeezed lime juice and served on slices of toasted fig bread. A green salad from the potager, a cold rosé wine and summer is served!
Some weeding on sunday in early evening light amongst the iceberg roses and santolinas.. This year the weeds in the garden are really impressive!
A yellow corner of the garden. I mostly had a white garden until about 3 years ago, when I brought in colour into the garden. I haven't regretted it for one minute! Whites and blues dominate in spring and yellows and oanges take over in late spring for summer. In this photo are yellow phlomis, purple Nepeta, yellow climbing roses and orange kniphofias.
